PROFILING! The Drive Time Chaffeur, Prince Benjamin of Class FM

Helloooo, Mic One, Check, Two…………..This Is Prince Benjamin

Of course, this is Prince Benjamin. And not your average chauffeur who normally drives you home and about on his ‘Class FM Limousine’.

But rather the Prince Benjamin who is rejuvenated with all the proverbial musical skills, that cut it as a singer and a songwriter. Yes, you heard it right.

This for now, is sounding like a joke through your lobes. But just wait for some few weeks till you hear the real Prince ‘B’ through your stereos.
Now wake up and unwrap the present as news or the news as present. Because whether we like it or not.

Prince Benjamin is not taking it in any other way than a musician, if not a singer. Either the latter or the former, Prince Benjamin has taken to the microphone for your information.

One could fathom where all your questions are heading to: such as, is he an actual singer or a musician?

Is he not just a radio presenter? Since when did he become a songwriter?

Well folks, whether he became a musician overnight or whatever it is, he is here to stake a claim and prove a certain point. As to how many points we do not know yet.

And as to how he is going to do it he said: “Maybe long overdue. Maybe this is the best time. Whatever be the case, I am dropping an official song for the first time this month and it’s called “Psalm 91.”

“This is a freestyle I did and took seriously enough to consider as a debut. I am happy and nervous to share it with you in this month of August.

And with regards to the date of the release he said:” I shall communicate the day in good time, but I am looking at releasing it ASAP!

“I Hope you like the cover art, and you anticipate this release. It will be worthwhile!”. Some even are of the opinion as to how he is going to be balancing his radio profession aside that of his music.

And just in case, all things became equal, Prince Benjamin’s family members, fans and friends would say, it is none of our business. And that is rightfully so.

Should we take him seriously or not, given his profession as a known radio presenter. Better still, one could also give him a chance devoid of doubt.
Because there are numerous others either dipping their hands in other unknown pies, to unearth their second talents or swapping professions completely.

If this is seen and witnessed in America and the world over, why not in Ghana. Andy Dosty of Hitz FM has done it before, and so did Kwame Adinkra of Pure FM and now to the Prince of Class FM.

Some musicians are acting while some actors and actresses are also singing. So, the super challenge and onus is absolutely on Prince Benjamin. Since he knows what some musicians go through given his experiences with some of them as a radio presenter.

Make a date with the Chaffeur Prince Benjamin on his Drive Time show which airs every weekday from 3pm. to 7pm. on Class91.3 FM.

Let’s get ready for the song and digest its content.

EDITORIAL! Is Facebook Live Lifting The Lid On Radio?

The art, beauty and magic of radio alongside its presenting or presentation, is to broadcast or speak to the listener without the listener seeing the studio or the one doing the presenting or hosting.

Let us not forget the fact that visually, video is to Television as audibly, audio is to Radio. So Facebook Live from a radio station’s broadcast becomes another form of television due to the video.

When watching a program on a Television, one would realise that the actions and visions of the characters change in between times in accordance with the script to capture the attention of its viewer or viewers.

In a radio scenario, it does not work out like television. This is so, because the power of radio is to capture not only the attention of the listener but their ‘IMAGINATION’ as well.

This simply and arguably means, the buck of the presenting, hosting or presentation, firstly stops with the presenter’s voice. Secondly their command and control of the program or show and lastly
their uniqueness.

As and when a presenter or host is aptly able to deliver the above mentioned presentation skills and qualities on the Airwaves then, they will be able to capture the attention and imagination of the listener.
In this case, listening to radio from a listener’s point of view becomes ‘The theatre Of The Mind’ relatively to that particular individual.

It is of course ‘The Theatre of The Mind’ because the listener’s mind is so busy conjuring and gesticulating with so much ‘IMAGINATIONS’ of everything the host or presenter does.

Just remember the idiomatic expression that says: “What The Eyes Don’t See, The Heart Does Not Grieve Over.” So the multi-million ample question becomes, is it better to switch on the radio station’s cameras when broadcasting, or switch it off by leaving everything to the total ‘IMAGINATIONS’ of the listener.

The important and remarkable thing about radio and its broadcasting is that, it has two major school of thoughts by its practitioners.

One school of thought is that, some radio presenters present their shows thinking of the listenership as audiences. No big deal here if so. Because they have put all of their various listeners together as one big or large audience.

Traditionally it was so, because buying a radio set then was expensive and deemed as a great luxury so was listened to in groups and droves just as Television was watched or viewed back then.

Fast forward economic evolution and modernity in the current world, where purchasing a piece of radio set, is arguably next to nothing depending on which part of the world one finds themselves and this is where, the second school of thoughts come for the listener to be treated as one ‘Individual-Listener’.

When referred to as that ‘Individual Listener’ the listener immediately feels that warmth and closeness to the host or presenter, as if they know each other.

How would a radio presenter or host know if their listener has or listeners have spoken well of them due to their radio skills and qualities?
Switch on the radio station’s broadcasting cameras and ‘kill’ the listening buzz.

As a radio host or presenter do not forget the fact that ‘Familiarity Breeds Contempt’.

So in this case, when is it appropriate to ‘Switch on the Radio Station’s Broadcasting Cameras for Facebook Live?

Only when one is sure to replicate exactly what goes on when watching a Television program with regards to the actions of the characters.

In this light, the radio presenter needs or presenters need to be changing actions in order to maintain attention and attraction not to the listener anymore but the viewer, because the cameras are on as ‘Visual Radio’ or Television.

In all, Facebook Live came to enhance the medium of radio broadcasting when properly used to its fullest potential as Television.

If not used sensibly, then Facebook Live Broadcasting from a radio station nudges and dislocates all the facts, postures, structures, beauties, magic, theatrics and the other advantages of radio and what it stands for.
So in comparison, which of the two preferences do one go for?

Anointed Ghanaian Gospel artiste JOHN PAUL (known in private life as John Paul J. Mensah) from the camp of JOHRIAM PRODUCTIONS is finally out with his latest track dubbed “Y3KOTO WO, Y3SOR WO”.

Popularly known by friends and family as Pope, John is well noted for his touching worship, Deep song writing and composition skills. He started singing at the age of nineteen at the Church of Pentecost, New site District, Estate Assembly in Takoradi with his fellow youth members in the year 2002.

He used to write songs and compose at that tender age but did not know the extent GOD wanted for him until he was appointed as the music director in that assembly. Then he had to live up to task and build the capacity. He was able to manage three different singing groups in surrounding churches to praise GOD. JOHN does not just sing but plays the Keyboard, Bass guitar, Drums and a little bit of Lead guitar.

It is believed that GOD gave him these additional skills to enable him write and compose songs at ease. Interestingly, John’s composition and writing is matured and more acceptable by many kinds of people.
