Accra-based Starr 103.5FM has tuned 3 years of in-depth, comprehensive and excellence in broadcasting on Friday, August 4, 2017.
Headed by celebrated media mogul Kwabena Anokye – Adisi (Bola Ray), it has swiftly become a leader in urban radio, parading some of the biggest names in Ghanaian broadcasting today: Anita Erskine, Giovanni Caleb, Francis Abban, DJ Vyrusky, KOD, Jon Germain, Nii Ayi Tagoe, DJ Blow, Dennis Mirpuri, Kwaku Obeng Adjei, Abena Owusu Nyamekye, Keminni Amanor, Naa Ashorkor among others.
Barely a year in existence, Starr FM was adjudged the best radio station in Ghana with showbiz content at the City People Entertainment Awards held in Nigeria in 2015.
Its online outfit Starrfmonline.com also won the CIMG’s Emerging Digital Media of the Year 2016. The station’s on-air personalities have also added more to their awards cabinet.
As part of activities marking the anniversary, there was a special edition of the Zodiac Party with jams from Nii Ayi Tagoe at the Django Bar inside Rockstone’s Office on Friday.
Master and turntable DJs, Vyrusky and Mono, also treated patrons and fans to special mixes, granted the opportunity to have fun with on air personalities from Francis Abban to KOD, Anita Erskine, Giovani and Jon Germain.
Operating from the Meridian building that formerly housed the Emirates Airlines Office on the Ring Road, the station has bagged several high-profile honours including Best Emerging Brand for 2014, Emerging Digital brand at 2016 CIMG among others.
From the Morning Starr to The Zone, from Starr Drive to Drop Off, Starr FM has over the years delivered top-notch programming for its target audience in Ghana and across the world.
The station is also acclaimed for curating unparalleled outdoor events as the annual S Concert —easily the nation’s biggest musical show, the Starr Woman series, Starr Church Olympics, Starr Business Olympics etc.
Starr FM is owned by EIB Network, which also manages LIVE FM, GH One TV, Agoo TV, Kasapa FM (all in Accra), Empire FM (Takoradi), Ultimate FM and Abusua FM (Kumasi) and Agoo FM (Nkawkaw), as well as the Daily Heritage Newspaper.
