The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed a five-member Interim committee to oversee football administration in the country as it takes steps to dissolve the Ghana Football Association over a bribery scandal.
Popular Sports Journalist with Accra based Peace 104.3FM, Dan Kweku Yeboah has been appointed to serve as the committee’s spokesperson.
Ace sports broadcaster and lawyer Eva Okyere is also a member of the committee.
Businessman Dr. Kofi Amoah will lead the five-member Interim committee and will work with President of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Cudjoe Fianoo, three-time African player of the year Abedi Ayew Pele and soccer legend, Rev Osei Kofi.
The Interim Management Committee therefore replaces the GFA executive committee which government has indicated can no longer operate.
Kwesi Nyantakyi relinquished his position as Ghana Football Association President after being caught in a video scandal released by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the video also exposed several top officials of the Ghana Football Association.
The government has since taken steps to dissolve the Association and that all football activities have currently been on hold until further notice.
