Maa Afia Konadu (known in private life as Henrietta Twum), former host of Peace FM’s award-winning social-related programmes; ‘Wo haw ne sɛn?’, ‘Mpom Te Sɛn’ and ‘Asomdwee NkomƆ’,has passed onto eternal glory.
According to reports, she died on Wednesday May 1, 2019 in the United States of America (USA) following a short ailment.
She would have turned 69 in November, this year.
In 2015, workers and management of PEACE FM said goodbye to the iconic radio personality when she retired at the age of 65.
Maa Afia Konadu, as she is popularly called, started as a teacher and then went on to work with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).
Few years later, she was invited by Dr. Osei Kwame Despite to help in running Peace FM as part of the team that started the Accra-based station in 1999.
Celebrating her 65th birthday on Tuesday, 17th November 2015, she told Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ that she has “done my part, I am tired and it is time for me to leave and for somebody else to take over.”
She retired peacefully then.
Maafia won the admiration of Ghanaians due to the impact she made with her show, Asodwe Nkomo.
