The CEO of Obuasi cited Ashantigold SC, out of his busy schedules from his current base in Egypt (Where CAF has commissioned him, to be the Assistant General Match Coordinator for AFCON 2019, Group C), had a whatsapp interview section with this authoritative portal.

1. Ashantigold plays Nzema Kotoko, in the NC Tier two finals on Sunday, how prepared is your team?
Ashantigold CEO, Achie.
Ashantigold is always prepared for the next game. The upcoming game is our target.

2. Your team was excellent against Kotoko in the NC Tier one semi-finals, was it a revenge from Karela surprised defeat?
Ashantigold CEO, Achie.
Our excellent display against Kotoko was not necessarily, a revenge on the karela FC defeat..Kotoko is not karela, so you can’t avenge on kotoko on what karela has done. The fact is that we were disappointed with our loss to karela FC at Obuasi and we needed to bounce back. It just happened that the next game was against Kotoko, we obviously needed to prove the worth we are made of, we needed to convince people that we are a good side and I don’t think there could be a better opportunity than playing against informed Asante Kotoko in Accra, we had to offer something for the neutrals. Our display against Kotoko proved how good we can be.

3. As CEO, how will you curb your team from complacency?
Ashantigold CEO, Achie.
We respect every single team we play against, and Nzema Kotoko is not an exception. We can not underrate a team which is in the cup final, do not forget they’ve beaten big teams including karela FC to make the final. We are not underrating them at all.

4. How important do you see Sunday’s finals?
Ashantigold CEO, Achie.
This final is very important because it’s the only avenue left to win silverware to manifest the good football we play. We need to win something to confirm we are a good side.

5. How would you react to a comment that you have deserted your team?
Ashantigold CEO, Achie
I have not deserted my team at all . I’m in Cairo working for Africa Football…it’s an extension of what we do in Ghana. Though I’m away in Egypt, I’m constantly in touch with the team in Obuasi- I continue to do all documentations for the club. You will see right after the final against Karela FC one or two Ashgold players will travel, my presence in Egypt has influenced that. These days you don’t necessarily have to be physically present to get job done. To me, it’s an honor to be part of this AFCON – Egypt 2019 as a Ghanaian.

6. Any special message for your players?

At Ashantigold SC, our target is always the next game. Our target is to win the next game, and our players are fully aware of this. They should make all of us involved with Ashantigold and be proud by winning this trophy. I wish them well.

I thank our supporters for the love they have shown to the players and management members from day one.
Finally, besides, the President and the CEO of the club, we have very competent administrative staff to handle the club pressing issues…my absence isn’t a worry.
