Peter Okwoche, host of Focus on Africa on the BBC has left the media outfit after 19 years.
The presenter broke the news to the world via X on Monday, July 31, 2023, saying;
“After 19 years at the world’s largest (and best) news organisation, I presented my last show today! I have decided to call time on this brilliant roller coaster ride. I’ve loved every single second. What next? I’ll see y’all around.”

Before joining the BBC, Peter gave three years of his life to radio Benue, Peter felt it was about time to leave the station and pursue other challenges. His applications to various radio stations were repeatedly rejected until Hints Magazine allowed him to oversee their transition into movies and radio programs.
The five years he worked at Makurdi’s as an announcer were still unsatisfying for him despite his successes. He landed another opportunity as a radio presenter at Rhythm FM before moving to Abuja. While in Abuja, he became the head of the department for the station’s programs such as Breakfast Show. This was when BBC came calling.
Peter Okwoche’s career moved to a higher stage when his talents were tapped by British Broadcasting Organization (BBC) in 2004. He relocated to London where he hosted flagship programs including Fast Track, Focus on Africa, among others.
Okwoche’s laidback probing interviewing style earned his programs a great audience.
While at the BBC, Peter Okwoche hosted several personalities most of whom will remember him for the ‘difficult’ questions regarding their impact on society.
The most recent of them was his interview with Ghanaian President Nana Akuffo Addo.
