Asaase Radio 99.5, the pan-African multimedia station has begun activities to mark its first anniversary a year after capturing the media landscape in the capital Accra.
Asaase Broadcasting Company (ABC) Radio Ltd, the mother company of Asaase Radio 99.5 FM began operation on 14 June 2020, has since expanded its reach to Kumasi with Asaase Radio Kumasi (98.5) and 123 FM, Tamale (99.7), and still growing.
The Kumasi based station, Asaase 98.5MHz, is located at Ahodwo roundabout, sonar centre, plot 25 A, Melcom road. With the coming onboard of the new station, Asaase Radio having established it’s presence in the country’s media landscape is poised to take the Kumasi media space by storm.

As part of the launch of the new Asaase Radio Kumasi, most of its presenters and DJs (including Kojo Mensah, Nana Yaa Mensah, Caroline Sampson, Naa Ashorkor, DJ Candyman, DJ Perfert and more others) are all in Kumasi to officially kickstart operations of the new station.
Performing the official opening ceremony, the General Overseer of the Gracefields Chapel, Kumasi, Rev. Simon Ampofo, invoked the blessings of God on the station declaring that with the name Asaase, the station has come to stay and it will possess the land.
The anniversary we’re hearing will raise about US$40,000 for the purchase of a dialysis machine to be donated to a health facility in the country.
A year ago, Elizabeth Akua Ohene, also a shareholder and board member, held a 20-minute in-house training with the news crew on media ethics; while Reginald Daniel Laryea, the renowned advertising consultant who is also a shareholder and board member, held a session with the sales and marketing team on the importance of marketing to build the brand and drive sales.
Asaase’s board chairman and senior partner of the corporate law firm Africa Legal Associates, Gabby Otchere-Darko, told the staff that there are great expectations resting on their young shoulders and that the competition out there may be stiff, but they can surely excel. “Just let the quality of your content speak,” he said.

Asaase Radio currently boasts of top presenters such as Kojo Mensah and Nana Yaa Mensah who are the anchors of the Asaase Breakfast Show from Monday to Friday.
Caroline Sampson (host of Ten to One), Naa Ashokor (host of “Between Hours” from Mondays to Thursdays and Just Us on Tuesday at 7pm) between Mondays to Thursdays at 2pm, Elvis Crystal (Rush-hour) from Monday to Friday between 3pm to 5 and Black Boy with Nitro Avenue.
As part of the celebration, management of Asaase Broadcasting Company (ABC) Radio Ltd is also using the opportunity to officially launch its Kumasi Branch Asaase Radio Kumasi (98.5) today 14 June 2021.
