Media personality Nana Adjoa Akuoko-Sarpong, popularly known as AJ Sarpong, has officially joined Media General.
The radio host and voice-over artist joined Media General from Citi FM/TV, where she hosted a number of programmes.
AJ Sarpong joins Media General, owners of TV3, 3FM, Onua FM, Onua TV, Connect FM, Akoma FM, APL and 3news.com, with a wealth of experience.
She is expected to join Giovani Caleb on the 3FM Drive programme.
She has over 13 years of dabbling in television and radio production and presentation, as well as event production, MCing, and media concept development.
She began her career working at Ghanamusic.com before making a move to EIB Network.
She joined Citi TV in 2017 until her recent resignation from the Accra-based station.
AJ Sarpong holds an MA in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) and another MA in Brands and Communications Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
While at Citi, AJ Sarpong hosted Brunch In The Citi which recently got the entire country talking about a special Valentine’s segment #IsYourBooYourBoo.
She also hosted “Hall of Fame” on Citi TV.
Before joining Citi FM and Citi TV, AJ Sarpong worked with the EIB Network where she hosted the daily entertainment segment on Starr FM’s Mid-Morning show, The Zone with Naa Ashorkor and also on TV with Kafui Dey and Baisiwaa on GH One TV’s morning show.
She holds two Master’s Degrees; a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, and; her second Master’s Degree in Brands and Communication Management from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
As a professional events MC, AJ has hosted many exciting high-profile events for State Institutions and Government Ministries including the Ministry of Communication and Education and has worked with Brands such as UNFPA, Nestle, DSTV, Republica Berlin, Total Petroleum, Yango, Visa Ghana, Woodin, IPMC, TEDX Osu, and recently Showbiz Entertainment Africa in South Africa.
Talk of the Town/Nsempii is a new captivating radio programme aired on Ekwanso Dwodwoo (Drive Time) on Okay FM 101.7 based in Accra.
The programme seeks to bring its audience up to date with current happenings and to make them abreast of the daily occurrences in their environment, Ghana and the world at large.
The objective is to capture socio-entertainment and human interest stories that will be delivered in a conversationally interesting manner but reliable information.
There will be intermittent dialogue between the hosts of the show. Talk of the Town, which goes with the hashtag #tottok, rests on diversity of current events coverage to arouse the audience participation.
It is categorized into two segments; “Talk of the Town” and “Song Breakdown”.
Segment:
❖ Talk of the Town – This segment is for the delivery of current intriguing events and will be interspersed with interviews and audience participations through phone-ins/vox pops. ❖ Song Breakdown – This segment is for reviewing music and breaking the lyrics down to the understanding of the listeners.
Four stories will be delivered per episode and one (1) song review per episode.
The show will be aired during the week days.
PRESENTERS: The show will have a main host and two sidekicks ; a male named Adu Gyamfi Ameyaw and female co-hosts Lady Jay Jay and Akosua Pitripitri.
The host will create a unique on-air chemistry delivering the programme in a professional manner but adding sensitivity and curiosity with a mix of friendly satirical dialogue and comments to evoke the audience responses.
The presentation of the show will be done using witty local language (Twi) that will fascinate the audience.
Abeiku Aggrey Santana , the head of the program revealed that the year 2023 is a year of “Quality” to make big impact in the lives of people including listeners , fans and followers.
“I like trends pieces because it gives us an opportunity to take a punt on where we think our industry is going“, he said.
The multiple award winning media mogul proclaimed that radio must be radio.
“Everyone is talking about digital and it’s role in radio but we shouldn’t lose sight of what radio is, it’s essence and what it can offer to both the listeners and advertisers”, he added.
Abeiku Santana also indicated that “radio programs must be creative, consistent, compelling, engaging, effective, immediate and a platform that can achieve things other media cannot get close to achieving”.
Entertainment journalist, Kwame Dadzie, has a new home.
The radio, TV and online personality who resigned from Adabraka-based Citi FM in December 2022 has pitched camps with Kokomlemle-based Multimedia Group Limited, home of Joy FM, Joy TV, Joy Prime, Adom TV, Adom FM and many others.
He will be focused on working with the Joy brands including radio, TV but with a special focus on online.
Until his resignation, Kwame was the entertainment anchor on Citi TV’s morning show (Breakfast Daily), and the host of ‘Celebrity Radar’, an entertainment segment on Traffic Avenue, the late afternoon show on Citi FM.
While at Citi TV, he produced shows like ‘Saturday Live’ and ‘30 Minutes’.
The controversial entertainment journalist is known for his in-depth write-ups on showbiz-related issues, especially his music reviews, and refreshing interviews.
Kwame started work in the media in 2009 when he had a stint with Krush FM, an online radio station in Koforidua.
He later became a producer and panelist for various entertainment shows at three radio stations in Koforidua (Sunrise FM, Eastern FM, Emak FM) in three years and hosted the hottest entertainment show in the Eastern Region, Arts and People on Vision FM in Koforidua. That show earned him nominations in the Radio and TV Personality Awards in 2014 and 2015 as Best Radio Personality in the Eastern Region.
He also hosted Campus Edition on the same network in 2014.
He was nominated twice in the Best Entertainment Journalist category in the GN Bank Awards.
In Accra, he hosted Flex on Pluzz on Pluzz FM and Gospel Countdown, on Care TV.
He was the Deputy Editor of Flex entertainment newspaper from 2009 to 2017.
Kwame has served as a Public Relations Officer (PRO) for a number artistes, brands and associations including the Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana (ATWAG), a group of Ghanaian arts writers/journalists and media workers who seek to promote arts, tourism and culture reporting in Ghana while developing the professional capacity and the welfare or its members.
He is a two-time Board Member of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (2021 and 2022).
He trained as a teacher at the Presbyterian Training College (now Presbyterian College of Education) at Akropong-Akuapem and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Ghana.
Dadzie is married to Gifty Abena Marfoa Nyamekye, an administrator at the University of Cape Coast and they are blessed with two children.
Young enterprising sports broadcaster Joseph Osei Bonsu (popularly known as Sports President) has immediately called it quit at Ashh FM after almost 6 years of dedicated and selfless service.

Astute sports broadcaster Juliet Bawuah has won the journalist of the year at the 47th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards.
The event took place on Saturday, January 28 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The award is held annually to honour distinguished Ghanaian sportsmen and sportswomen.
Juliet said after the event that “This adds to the sports journalist the year award I won at the Ghana Journalists Association Awards in November.
Juliet has carved out a niche for herself as an astute broadcast journalist in the area of sports reporting.

Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus received the Sports Personality of the Year award at the 47th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards ceremony.
Recognizing the accomplishments of Ghanaian athletes and sports figures, the event took place at the Accra International Conference Center on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old was named the overall winner at the event, beating out other top athletes in the country.

Popular radio personality and political analyst, Ebenezer Yaw Jonah (affectionately known as Osempakani), has announced his departure from Kumasi based Fox FM.
Osempakani , who doubles as the erstwhile Programmes Manager of the station, told listeners during his ‘Asanteman Nkosuo’ show this morning that he was hosting the show for the very last time.

Astute Ghanaian sports journalist Juliet Bawuah has resigned from TV3, a subsidiary of Media General.
According to Nydjlive, the sports journalist tendered her resignation early this week ending her 30-month working relationship with the media outfit.
The resignation is shocking to many, especially after the incredible work done with the media outfit before and during the just-ended Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022.
It is immediately unknown her next destination.
In July 2020, Juliet Bawuah was appointed the head of sports at Media General, taking over from colleague Michael Oti-Adjei who had been elevated to the position of General Manager (Digital).
Prior to TV3, Juliet worked at CITI FM, ETV, Metro TV, Goal, CafOnline, Euronews’ sister station, and Africanews.
She is also a Contributor for Premier League TV, LA Liga TV, BBC, Aljazeera, and the Turkish broadcaster TRT.
Juliet is Radio Netherlands Training Centre (RNTC) trained and an alumna of the US State Department-sponsored International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
