Programmes Manager and host of Angel Drive in Kumasi, Nana Obiri-Yeboah, popularly known as Ike De Unpredictable, has retired from the radio fraternity.
He announced his exit from mainstream media on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
“Whether by design or coincidence, I began my radio journey on the 96.1 frequency at Continental Radio, and now I am closing this chapter on the same frequency at Angel FM 96.1.
With mixed emotions, I announce my departure from mainstream radio after twenty-five years. It is time for me to sign off.”
In a social media post, Ike expressed appreciation to several individuals, including legendary Loving Cee, Azigiza Junior, Mr Isaac Frimpong, Dr Kwame Kyei, Dr Kwaku Oteng, Nathaniel Addisi, also known as Bola Ray, and many others, for their immense contribution to his media journey.
First and foremost, I want to thank D.J. Azigiza Junior, the proprietor of ZIGZAG, for training and mentoring me in the art of radio presenting. Your guidance has been instrumental in laying the foundation for my career, and I am forever grateful.
I would also like to express special appreciation to Mr Isaac Frimpong, known as D.J. Osooko, for providing me with hands-on experience at Otec FM. Your mentorship has been invaluable, and I am thankful for the opportunity to learn from you.
I extend my gratitude to the following radio stations and individuals who have played significant roles in my career.”
He also expressed appreciation to his listeners for their support throughout his career.
“I want to express my gratitude to my amazing fans and listeners. Thank you for tuning in every day, sharing your stories, and making this journey incredibly rewarding and special. I have felt so much love and support from each of you, and I am truly grateful. Together, we’ve shared many laughs, shed tears, and celebrated countless memorable moments.
Ike De Unpredictable started his radio career at Continental Radio (now Focus FM – KNUST) in 1999.
He then joined Mighty FM in Asante Mampong around the year 2000. A year later, Ike joined Kiss FM in Drobo.
After a dedicated service at Kings Radio, he was poached to Light FM in Kumasi and eventually to Angel 96.1 FM in 2007. While at Angel FM, Ike De Unpredictable received a job offer in 2016 from EIB Network, the operators of Abusua 96.5, where he worked until 2019 and returned to Angel 96.1.
Until his resignation, Ike De Unpredictable served as host of the station’s late afternoon show, Angel Drive.
